my vote is Tmobile or verizon, I've heard good and bad things about both, I have AT&T now, if my work didn't pay for it, I wouldn't use them as a consumer just because their too gosh darned expesnive, they do have a 19.99 plan tho you might look at from mlife. it depends on where you are, on how your signal will be for each of the service providers.

at any rate GL.

Call and tell them you want to cancel. They'll connect you to "cancellation", AKA retention, which is actually a sales department. Tell them that you're about to cancel, but you've had that plan for x years, and would like to keep it if there's any way you can, because otherwise, you'll "make do without a cell phone, since you can't get a plan that cheap these days." Or something like that.

They might be able to let you keep it, free and legit, and if they can, they will, as long as they're convinced that you had no idea you were violating their policy. (3 years is a long time, you assumed you were grandfathered in, right?;))

YMMV. If you can't keep that exact plan, they might be able to offer you a different plan for $15-25. Just be sure to ask for first incomming minute free, if you had it (you probably do), and nights/weekends that start at the same time as your current plan, so you don't lose them.

It's sure as heck worth a try. Let us know!

i would def. try this too, it's worth a shot to see if you can keep it or something like it.

Yeah, especially since SprintPCS's is actually quite nice. Too bad Sprint's local phone is not that way........

Where are you? Service will vary depending on location...T-Mobile's pretty good for me here in SE Michigan..

I wonder if i am going to get that call soon? I have had it for almost 6 years now and the past 5 of them I have not worked for the company. Oh well.

I'll vote verizon too, although I never have been able to get them to get things organized right since I added my daughter to my plan, they do provide the service I contracted for at the price I agreed to and (this is the biggie.. it was a bigger deal when we were on dialup and had forward on busy to the cell in lieu of a 2nd phone line!), provide a reliable signal to my house (something nobody else has been able to do!).

my complaint: I get detailed billing on one phone and summary billing on the other. I know what calls I make! I don't really care what calls she makes as long as she doesn't go nuts and cost me more money but if I'm gonna get that info, it might as well be interesting! I've been in 3 times and 3 times they say they've switched that and it just never happens..

as complaints go.. it's trivial. in all other aspects, they've met my needs at least adequately, and in all ways better than any of the others I've tried.

I'm currently using PCS, switched from Verizon. I dig the Vision, but for basic make-a-call I much prefer Verizon.
And really, thats what I use my cell for, to make a call. Not to surf the internet, not to find the geekiest ring tone and not to post on ATOT.
So, Verizon.

Alright, if Sprint screws up and looses me as a customer I'm thinking of either going with Verizon (I don't like any of the ATT phones)

Here's what I'm looking at...
(prices AR)

LG VX10 - $89
LC VX4400 - $99

Any comments on these phones? it looks like the 4400 is getting pretty good reviews...

Black and white phone: Motorola V60i (compact, excellent phone, but they're in short supply). Second choice: LG VX-10. (I had a LG-TM510 for over a year and it was a good all around phone. Most folks say the VX-10 is too.)
Color phone: LG VX-4400 (fun for nerds to hack and play with). According to most folks I hear from, the Verizon version of the T720 should be avoided because of small but numerous software and hardware issues.

My 2 cents.

also important to me is a feature Sprint has had for a while.

they had the option just to bill my CC every month and I don't have do do a dang thing ever again to get my bill paid. Does verizon, t-mobile, att have this feature as well?

and I assume mobile to mobile on the plans I'm looking at are just for the same services mobile to mobile right (ex. sprint to sprint, but not verizon to sprint)

I don't really like the V60i, brother in law has it and I don't care for it.

Agreed with the T720. I'm reading more and more bad reviews.

1) T-Mobile can bill your credit card every month so you don't have to do anything. That's what I do and I love it. Plus I earn miles since I'm using my Alaska Airlines credit card :)

2) Unfortunately mobile to mobile minutes only means within that carrier. You cannot have AT&T to Verizon or T-Mobile to Sprint PCS. So if you frequently speak with people who use their cell phone a lot, you may want to consider joining their cell phone provider. It would suck if everyone you know is on Verizon but you sign up with AT&T.

actually I may be doing just the opposite. Fiance's family (main cell phone usage) all have ATT.... but I don't like any of their phones dangit.

Verizon has that option, although I personally prefer to pay manually over the phone every month after I've received and reviewed my bill. Then I can call CS and go over anything I don't understand, and get a credit on my next month of service if necessary. It's only been necessary to do that after I've made a change to my plan though.

Vision is Sprint's high(er)-speed data option. If you don't need it, or your Sprint phone doesn't support it, don't pay for it, since the wireless web will still be accessable at 14.4K, same as always, should you need to use it.

If you can't keep Sprint, I would suggest Verizon. They're a nice company to deal with, for the most part, but don't get into a 2 year contract. You won't be able to change phones (for a discount) for 22 months! Get the one year, and ask them if they can waive the activation fee at the store. That way, you'll be eligible for a discounted phone upgrade after 10 months. If Verizon doesn't give you service at home, work, or any other place you frequently need it, return it within 14 days. As a second choice, I'd try T-Mobile, if they have a plan that works for you.

Verizon.

Only downside I can say is that they are genearlly more expensive than the rest regarding phones as well as plans. But you get what you pay for.

Tell them you work at store # 1357 or something. That might buy you another month or two until they figure out there's no such employee or store.

You could try telling them that you still work at your old store, but who knows whether or not they are planning to call Circuit City to verify, or if they didn't already. If they don't call your bluff, you might get to slide at that awesome rate for another 3-5 years. If they do call your bluff, don't expect to get offered a good deal to stay, since they will think of you as a scammer.
