I'm debating weather to cancel my Cingular service and switch over to AT&T mMode GSM. They have a lot of basic plans that I'm interested in but none of them include free roaming. Roaming is rather expensive at 69 cents a minute it can add up rather fast. Can anyone tell me how far I can go before they start charging me roaming fees??

I live in southern california, LA County.

Any advice would help,
Thanks

Depends where you are in LA county. Where I live, both Cingular and AT&T aren't very good. I think the $29 or $39 plans have free roaming, not sure which.

I thought the $34.99 AT&T Wireless National Network Plan was pretty good.
You get:

300 anytime minutes
Unlimited Night and Weekend Minutes per month for life
200 Additional Anytime Minutes per month for life
250 National Mobile to Mobile Minutes per month for life

National roaming $0.69/min when you are not on their network
However the descriptions for these particular plans are: << With this plan, the AT&T Wireless national network becomes your Home Calling Area. Enjoy huge savings and lots of anytime minutes, and no roaming or domestic long distance charges when you are on our network. >>[/b]

and don't forget the Off-peak time. In my area, only Verizon has off-peak @8pm, other is 9pm.
One hour is very much different. My old plan is @7pm (verizon)

You might also look into Sprint. I've had good luck with them the two years I've had it. Steer clear of the Vision plans, at least right now.
