True in that CDMA technology is "better" than TDMA or GSM, but the only GOOD CDMA provider is Verizon.
Sprint's coverage is shoddy and their customer service is even worse.

AT&T and Verizon both have fantabulous customer service, but the TDMA technology is outmoded (has a number of inherent problems) and being phased in favor of GSM which is much better.

AznMaverick - to answer your question, there is no way in hell you can keep your number. Don't even try. Your best bet is to downgrade your plan to the $10/month one for one month and change your voicemail message to reflect your new number. :)

FYI, coming in Nov. (03) you will be able to keep your same cell phone #. It's called number portability and it's a joint effort by all the cell phone providers. I think it was something that Congress put into effect last year.

Not yet. Soon though.

Cell phone companies are adding surcharges to everybody's bill to cover the huge costs of making this possible. That sucks, IMO. They should only charge people who use number portability, not everyone.

Nov '03, you'll be able to move your landline # to your cell phones; The way they are going to pool the numbers is complex, its going to cost alot of money to start and maintain.

btw. don't be surprissed if your charged $$ to "export" your number from a carrier, and then charged to "import" it to the new carrier

Land line numbers too? Well, if that happens, the business I work for will have a problem with its no checks from homes with no home phone policy. We exclude people based on the telephone prefix. Hmmmn. . .
