I had a Motorola V66 from T-Mobile which recently started acting up (complaining about the SIM card not being installed until I smacked it a bit) and whose LCD finally bit the dust. The phone still turns on, though, and I had the phone book saved on the phone and not on the SIM. I figure the best thing to do is hook up the phone and get the phone book off, but I don't want to pay for the software + proprietary cable for a one-shot deal. I'd be willing to pay shipping to/from if anyone has the stuff and is willing to lend it to me -- bonus points if you're in Chicago (near Lakeview preferably) and would be willing to do it in person. Any other ideas (like a local place to buy the cable/software then return it w/o restocking, or a place that would save my phone book for < $10) are appreciated.
Second thing -- I've got a V188 as a temporary replacement. I like the flip cover with the time and incoming call info on it, but I'd like to be able to "ignore the call" (i.e., shunt the user over to voice mail immediately) with the flip cover down, but you can only silence the call from the outside buttons, but when you flip up the lid it automatically connects the call and you can't then ignore it. Is there any way to stop connecting automatically when flipping up the lid with this phone, or does anyone know of a flip phone with external readout that lets you do that. It's sort of a specific thing, but I found it useful on my old phone. Also, any phones that let you save to the SIM that also let you put icons (work/mobile/home/etc.) in the phone book? The V188 doesn't let you.
Cliffs
1) Want to borrow a Motorola V66 data cable + software to get my phone book.
2) Can a Motorola V188 ignore the call (not just silence it) with the flip cover down?
3) Any phones that let you save to a SIM and also put work/mobile/etc. icons with the entries?
Thanks all.
