Cell Phone Question (Cingular)

A friend of mine said he couldn't call me because his new phone he got from Cingular is not working.

He said he called them and they told him to call back tomorrow (today Saturday) during regular business hours. I thought Cingular customer serrvice was 24/7?

He said they told him he could not activate his new phone because he needs a new activation number and only customer service could give it to him. There was an error when they shipped out his phone.

Sounds like complete BS or could he be telling me the truth?

 
Some customer service levels may be available 24/7 and some may not. They probably have lower level tech support access but the people who can do more advanced things are not available. If you really want to know, try calling and asking them if they could do it.
 
I believe it 100%. Why? B/c with 5 different carriers that I've personally tried, Cingular was by far the worst in service. They may have changed, but my experience wasn't pleasant. Best of luck!

i would trust a friend over any cell phone company. don't trust cell companies farther than i could throw them!
 
I think he is telling the truth, but if he is lying, then why do you need a friend like that?😕
 
When I was with Cingular (cancelled around December, before ATT and Cingular were treated as one), they were NOT 24/7. I was pissed off when I had problems trying to cancel their service on the weekend (aside from their normal 30+ minute hold time). I only remember Sunday being their day off, but I wouldn't be surprised if they operated from 9-5, M-F only.

Cingular has the worse customer service and I dread going back (which I probably will to get a new gsm phone when my Tmobile contract expires).
 
i have cingular now and i hate their customer service. will find another company when my contract runs out in 6 months. I joined ATT not Cingular!!! damnit.

its too bad because i like the phone so much. (audiovox 5600.)
