If you call someone using your cell phone, do you know if the person recieving the call can see your name on the caller ID?

I have two cell phones in a family plan and they both juts moved to cingular and now with both numbers on the caller ID the name of the account holder shows up.

Depends. My account with Alltel doesn't even show the number for caller ID. My phone shows up as "Restricted".

That's what I thought also. You usually only get the number and then if you want you add that number to your cell phone or house phone and add a name to associated it with the number.

Usually it just sees the number but then it compares that number to the names in the phone's address book and if it finds a match, it displays the name, oterhwise it just shows the number.

I have verizon home and verizon wireless, and the CallerID on the land line shows only the number, followed by NYNEX MOBIL.

I just notice this until yesterday and today in the morning. Calls from both cell phones to my Voip phone number at home show up as the name of the account holder for both.

I was just i guess concern because i'm not the account holder even though i'm a approved person to make changes, so i guess when i call others they might get well the account holders name instead of mine.

Maybe i can talk to cingular to see if one number could have a different name.

I just emailed cingular. I'm sure i will get a pre-typed answer on how to use caller id features or no answer at all.

I'd be very surprised if you can get them to separately ID multiple numbers on the same account.

I know with T-Mobile you can't.

(or at least you couldn't a year ago)

Cingular responded to my question.

The Caller ID information that is broadcast by your phone can display
the name of the primary account holder and the mobile number, or I can
replace the primary account holder's name with the words "Wireless
Call" Unfortunately, I am unable to change the name of the Caller ID to
someone else's name.

If you decide to change the display on your outbound Caller ID,
"Wireless Call" and the mobile number will be displayed. Regardless of
the choice made, Caller ID may display your information differently
depending on the identity of all carriers processing the call
(originating carrier, long distance carrier, terminating carrier)
