Cell phone memory?

Pghpooh

Senior member
Finally got rid of my 8 year old phone and got a new Smasung something or other. LOL
New phone is basic.
The new phone can accept a micro sd memory card for ring tone, picture, etc storage.

While looking at sd cards I noticed they come in different classes. Class 4, 10, etc.

All I want to do is store some pictures and ringtones and ringback tone on it.
Does the class matter????
Thanks

Edit
Phone is a Samsung Intensity ll
Verizon Network
It can text, and use VZ Navigator and some other things.
I do not text
Most advanced feature I might use is the Vz Navigaator when needed and maybe take a picture or two.

Classes are related to speeds I believe, but I've used micro sd cards from class 4, 6, and 10, and I didn't notice much of a difference. I guess it might depend on which type of phone you have.

the only time it may ever matter is if you are playing back or recording HD video. you won't be on your phone, so get whatever is cheapest.

I have always heard that classes meant speed, but on my Vibrant and on my Transformer I am using 16gb msd cards rated at class 2 and HD video has been playing just fine on both devices.

I would at least get a Class 6, to prevent any issues with the Android OS freaking about a slow sd card
