Cell phone melodies have sent this world spiralling down to hell.

I don't personally find cellphone use in public TOO annoying. Some people really love themselves on the cellphone but I can deal with this.

But what I can't tolerate anymore is when people let their cellphone ring extra long just to grace us with their stupid little tune. I swear to God that some people deliberately let their phone ring extra long and take their time answering it just so that I can hear Pacabel Cannon in D on a God-damned cellphone speaker.

Oh and whats the people with a cellphone AND a pager on their belt at the same time? Why?

I can't wait until you are able to program in your own tune. Can you imagine if some of the over played songs of the radio are programmed into cell phones....or God forbids old new kids on the block songs....or Ice Ice baby...hehe.

Then I would get a dampening device and wear it at all times..I'd be a 50 foot grey zone for cell phones

i wholeheartedly agree. i set mine to the most standard ring i have on there. i don't see why they have to put more than just a ring. i blame it on the trendy japanese girls (anybody read yil?). did you read the article from the uk about how birds are imitating cellphones? hehe...

Some people like to let the world know what great musical taste they have.

And duh, people carry a cell phone so they can call back right away when someone pages. 😕 J/K Maybe the pager is for work.

As for the melodic rings, I fscking HATE that!!!

Case in point: I was visiting New York (city) in march. On the subway back to my hotel, there was a woman sitting across from me. The train is fairly busy. This woman pulls out her cell phone and proceeds to go through EVERY friggen tone she has stored in there. And not just a preview of each one, she actually listened to the WHOLE THING!!! She must have had about 40!!!

I was surprised that no one told her to shove it... I was ready to take her phone and beat her to death with it... and the worst part: she was enjoying it, and bobbing her head to each one...

*shudder* ughhh...

Saw a commercial yesterday where a guy had the new Uncle Cracker song on his cellphone - you can already download a whole whack of them directly to the phone 🙁

Guilty! 🙂 I usually have both a pager and a cell phone on my belt, for the simple reason that my pager gets system notifications, client pages, etc., whereas my cell phone is for returning calls, personal calls, talking with the office, etc., etc..

Seeing as how I have at times received several hundred notifications in a few days, that would quickly run down the minutes on my cell phone.

well if you're like my dad... your cell phone is fvcked up and can only make, not receive calls... then you need a pager and cell.

Well, MY reason for having a "special ring" is just so I can tell when MY phone is ringing. When I'm in public places, I generally have the phone on silent, unless I'm expecting a call. I guess I understand where you're coming from, but I appreciate having a "special ring" on my phone.

I get that. That makes sense - as long as you answer it quickly. Just don't let it go for 15 seconds of whatever tune you have on 🙂

Based on that statement, having a special ring should allow you to indentify it sooner and to answer sooner. Some people, however, are very proud of their special ring tones and want the world to hear how cool their music selection is. Thus, you hear their phone ring, and music starts, and they stare at phone (caller ID)--then it continues, and continues, until I want to smack them upside the head. Then they finally answer.

Usually those people get 50 calls in the course of 5 minutes. I'm pretty sure they are saying, "Call me back, I want to listen to this tune again."

Oh, and I have pager and cellphone too. It is useful, pager for work and cellphone for personal and returning pages for work.

I have both, but I keep both on vibrate at all times. I know it's me because I feel it. The "look at me I'm important and cool because I have a cell phone" phase is quite over and I wish people would realize that. I totally agree with you, Skoorb.

I like my ringtone:

beep - 3seconds silence - beepbeep - 3 second silence (REPEAT)

I set it on a very low volume too so unless you're very attentive to every little noise, you won't hear anything.

down side is, I miss almost 99% of my calls when I'm walking down the street. but my philosophy is: if it's important, they'll leave a message 🙂

why not just set it on vibrate? 🙂
i leave mine on vibrate always unless im at home. Then i put it on ring so i can hear it from any room in the house

Pager for work and a cell for calling in IF I get paged and for personal usage. And I'll be damned if work will ever get my cell number!

BTW - They're both set to vibrate......so I'm sneaky quiet and melody free. 😉

You can program your own tones into a Nokia 3390 phone... it has a built-in ringtone composer, which you can use to compose your own ringtone...

You can also download them directly into your phone from some websites, or have a friend send ringtones to you...

yeah, the 3390 has sweet customization features, i plan on getting one then programming in the power rangers communicator type ring. 😀

Yeah, my phone has a sweet little ring, but i hate annoying people with it, so i answer it as soon as I can.

i know this is a bit off topic, but I hate it when my phone rings and i'm in the car.... its hard to talk on the phone, steer, and shift gears all at the same time. little bit easier in an automatic.. but who wants one of those 😀
