Cell Phone malfunctioning. Any recommendations on new one?

I have Sprint. I have one year left on my contract, and my phone has been not working very well. On my Sanyo 8200 certain buttons do not work including the "2", "3", and "END". It also is having a hard time detecting if the phone is closed or not (its a flip phone). I doubt that Sprint will try to fix the phone and will want me to buy a new one. Can I just buy a new phone without renewing my contract? Is there a phone that you can recommend me?

As always, thanks for reading,
Stu

I only buy nokias for a variety of reasons including durablity, that the green and red buttons are consistantly placed (moto is prone to flipping them) and that all power accessories are uniform. I don't know if sprint carries any.

if you buy a phone with your contract still going, you will have to pay full price for the phone, meaning no reduction with a purchase of a plan. You're gonna be paying a rediculous amount if you buy new, so i suggest going to a cell phone cover booth (not a major carrier, just cases and covers) and see what they have. Most of them buy used phones and sell them for pretty cheap. gl.

Sanyos are the best Sprint phones IMO. Far and away the best reception.

If you've had your phone for a year, you can get a new one at $75 off; not the whole $150, but it's something. Have you even tried bringing the phone to the store yet? They might tell you to talk to Sanyo, but they will do some things in the store. At least they'll tell you what your options are.

Also, ask them if they have any refurbished Sanyos. I have a refurb phone now, and I couldn't be happier with it. (7400 I think?)

Nokia doesn't make very many CDMA phones, but they recently made a partnership with Sanyo to jointly develop CDMA phones, so more should be on the way.

As I mentioned below, that's not the case. If you've had your phone for a year, you get $75 off. And, if you're looking for a refurb, the storepeople should be able to at least help you. They will definitely have SOME refurbs on-hand, so you can pick amongst them, or just check back every week or so to see if they have any new ones.

Check there under the "Sprint PCS New For You Upgrade Program". It will ask you for your number and your zip code and tell you when your 1-year and 2-year rebate dates are up.
