OK here is the story.

About 5 days ago I was the victim of a very good pick pocket. I was nefing on ATOT and writing some code on my laptop in a local coffe shop called Tryst. Anyhow my best friend called me and I took out my sidekick2 to answer the call. We talked for about 15min and I hung up the phone and placed the sidekick back into my pocket. Take heed all this time I am sitting in a chair. Well the theif must have brushed up against me because he was able to get the sidekick and my cash that I had in the same pocket. I am really depressed because Tmobile failed to tell me as a customer that I could only get insurance on my phone after the third day of purchase etc. Neadless to say I didnt have insurance on the phone. Right now I am out of a 300 dollar cell phone and 50 bucks cash. I am in a very diffcult situation and I need a replacement sidekick asap. I only have 200 bucks to get one with. I am asking any of ATOTs who have any ideas how I straighten this whole mess out without me spending 320 bucks. I have looked on ebay for a replacement phone but I am very nervous about all the scammer on ebay now. I just had a resolution with paypal that took 45 days to complete. Any and all recommendation will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Isn't there a way to remotely lock your phone if you have the right info. Like the sn and imei, security code and etc. Not sure. My buddy lost his Sanyo remotely locked it after he got it stolen.

The first sentence must be a question, right?

The answer is yes; you call the cellular company and they remove the phone from the account. Some companies can also "blacklist" the phone as stolen; it can't be reactivated on that company's network until the original owner reports it found/recovered.

Also, the Sidekick2 often locks your "Hiptop" username to the IMEI so if someone puts in another SIM card, they may still need to call T-Mobile in order to get the username cleared. If you have reported the phone stolen, they may be able to at least prevent the thief from using it, or perhaps even track him down.

Definitely call the police, too.

My sister-in-law's phone was stolen once and the police called it and the thief actually answered and gave his location.

The thief probably knows using it is too risky so he's just going to sell it and when that poor guy tries to get the username cleared, he's going to find out he got screwed...

yea ive been watching craigs list to see if anyone is selling a sidekick in my area.

Man I could kill this scum bag.

🙁

Other than ebay, not really sure what you could try...but for next time, whenever you get a new activation, always check amazon.com for the phone you want. If you had bought it there, you would have ended up with money in your pocket + a phone, rather than dishing out any money out for it.

You HAVE called to put a hold on your service, haven't you?

Well I did at first but that completly removes my voicemail and I need to have people know that I have lost the phone etc. however I check three times a day to see if the phone has been used. As of today no one has used the phone at all.

😕
