There's a place in NYC, Chips and Techs at 15W 39th Street, between 5th and 6th Ave that's currently having a great sale on cell phones. With a $39.99 monthly plan and AT&T, the Mororola V60T is free with $100 rebate, Panasonic Allure is free with not rebate, Panasonic Versio is free with no rebate. There are other carries they have deals on, too. The website is here. But there isn't anything on it.

What exactly does "activation" mean? If I already have service with AT&T can I just transfer my service over to this phone and still get it for free? Anyone familiar with this?

Thanks.

The best deals on cell phones are in NYC Chinatown or Flushing, Queens Chinatown. The prices on the phones lower than any other stores I've seen and they do not charge you tax. I am going to get a Motorola i90c for $120 (no tax) with Nextel Service.

definitely hit up Flushing sometime...sweet deals there...
Friend was planning on paying some nutty amount in manhattan or brooklyn(he thought he was going to only pay $80 in brooklyn lol)...for the Ericcson T22world(I think) which was a pretty sweet phone back then. To make a long story short, I dragged him to flushing, took him to 2 stores, the 2nd one offered it for free.

I don' t know how it is now, but I doubt it's changed much, definitely hit up flushing. Rebates schmebates

Flushing is good and all, but don't expect much along the lines of verizon. I went through most shops and haggling with verizon is a lost cause. I think they really just don't make much money off of it at all. Verizon seems to work very well though. PM me if you have questions...

if you go to the Opane located in K-town in manhattan, they have an even better deal on the V60.

With a AT&T Wireless 39.99 plan, u pay $50 for the V60 phone.

And then u get the $100 rebate, so you MAKE $50 on this phone.

i BELIEVE the rebate expires 7/13.

Which is the best cell phone service (ATT, Verizon, Sprint, etc.) and where can I get a Nokia 8890 for cheap/free?

I live in Brooklyn.

Can anyone help out?

one word: Chinatown

Flushing is too far for me since I'm in Manhattan. Walk into just about any Chinatown cell dealer and you can get 90% of phones for free (with activation). I believe my friend paid about $50 in Chinatown for a V60 with Verizon. A V60 with AT&T is definitely free in Chinatown. As for VoiceStream, Ericsson T28 and Nokia 8290 have been free in Chinatown for a long time now.

For those of you who have gotten phones at K-Town, flushing or chinatown, im assuming you singed a one year contract? And if its for the 39.99 plan, are you not allowed to downgrade to a cheaper plan later? And, can you change the area code of the phone?

thanks

When getting a phone for a special price when signing a one year contract, a cancellation fee of ~$200 applies. Some phone companies let you choose between 917 and 646 for your area code.

Guys-

Any good deals for Verizon? I know people rarely deal on those. I need to get a phone for my wife, who loves her Verizon service. I switched to Voicestream, and as long as I'm in the 5-Boroughs, I'm fine. Leave the city, and I'm screwed. I figure getting her a different service will ensure that we're not both left out in the cold when we travel.
