depends on where you're at, of course.

i have sprint in texas and personally am quite happy with it. cingular has free roaming with its basic plan, so that might be better since you can pick up anyone's signal and get it to work.

my friend currently gets really horrible reception in his apartment on the cingular network, but great signal when he's on cingular extended (roaming). so he did flashed the phone to a newer version available on the internet and now can force his phone to switch between cingular networks and other networks, providing for the best reception possible. i'm sure if you get any plan with any provider where you get free roaming, you can have the best reception possible.
