on the engadget review of the pre plus, they said sprints nav was better. it just came out yesterday.

Yeah that's the only thing I don't like about getting a Palm Pre Plus on Verizon. I have a Droid now and Google Maps Nav, while in beta, is still fairly good and it's free. VZ Navigator is an additional $10 a month on top of your monthly fee. That's just too much IMO.

I would imagine not. They didn't do anything at all to the Android OS on the Droid and along with Google Maps it has a full blown GPS software complete with turn-by-turn directions. I don't have to pay the $10 and I'm glad since Verizon is all ready expensive as it is.

Absolutely but the only problem with that is if you want to message someone that can't get email on their phone. A lot of people can't/don't want email on their phones and of course the cell companies know this.

Wow, that comes out to quite the scam for an additional $20 for unlimited texting. Makes those $99 plans look a little worse.

On a side note, since I am one of about 10 people in the world that does not have a cell phone, what kind of prices are people seeing for all the surcharges (Universal fee, Fed fees, Bend Me Over fees, Just Because We Can fees, etc.) in additonal to your plan prices. For example, if I was to do an unlimited Voice and Text for $99 a month, what could I expect to pay for these additional fees above that?

Surcharges and taxes will vary by state of course. Where I live currently(Ohio ), my latest bill has a total of $4.49 for Verizon surcharges (the bulk of which is a Federal charge) and then I have state taxes which comes to $7.39. I would say you're looking at somewhere in between $110 to $120 a month depending on carrier and state if you go with a $99 plan.

Also, you may get a company discount depending on who you work for. I get a 15% discount with any carrier so that definitely softens the blow I take each month.

our total bill for my family and i of 3 on att comes out to be around $120 a month, after a 25% discount (thank you work!). if it wasnt for that, i would still be on sprint, stuck with my horrible touch pro.

Some responses based on my experience with my Touch Pro 2 on Sprint.

roaming on Verizon ? no problem, WM makes it easy to force roaming if I want.

Sprint Nav ? excellent nav, I frequently travel with someone who uses Verizon and both navigate equally well, and often better than her stand alone navigator.

Google maps ? with WM, I have Google maps including street view, Bing maps, and Sprint nav. It's nice to have backups.

Sprint tv ? pretty useful actually, and includes overlooked Sprint radio which is actually very cool for listening to local radio from across country.

Nascar and NFL apps ? very cool for fans, Nascar one is great for a fan like me. live in car audio is great.

3g coverage ? not mentioned much but Sprint has much better nationwide 3g coverage than ATT or Tmobile, only provider that's close to Verizon.

rollover minutes ? who needs them when all mobile to mobile is free ?

Verizon is expensive but worth it.
Sprint is best deal if they stay in business.
ATT is an evil,dishonest entity in the same vein as Exxon or Comcast.
T-Mobile, I know nothing about.
