i just got the funniest phone call from a guy.... it went like this

*ring*
me: hello.
person: what are you doing?
me: not much what are you doing?
person: is this john?
me: nope.
person: oops sorry i dialed the wrong number.
me: no problem, bye!

That's nothing. Two days ago about 2:30 am EST my cell phone goes off. I'm on call so I pick it up thinking its work and there is some lady on the other end singing me Happy Birthday. It wasn't my birthday and my name isn't Brian. I bet she felt a little awkward after that call.

I once got a call from a therapists office reminding some girl (that I happened to know, coincidentally) that she had an appointment the next day. Too bad I missed the call and they left a voicemail for her (even though my voicemail message says my name - and I am clearly a male).

couple days ago I get a call from one of my sisters friends (home phone).

them: Hey what's up?
me: (not knowing who this is) hey, not much
them: what're you doing?
me: nothing
them: wait, who is this?
me: who's this?
them: (passing the phone to someone else) dude i dont even know who i'm talking to, i'm so keyed
me: (waits patiently)
them: (girl comes on the phone) hello, who's this?
me: i dont know, you guys called me, who is this?
them: is uh, (insert name of sister) there?
me: who?
them: oh shit, ok bye

This one really gets me...

Phone rings, let the answer machine do its thing(obvious outgoing message to whom the phone belongs to), caller proceeds to leave lengthy message about this/that/the other, without even realizing they are not leaving a message for the intended recipient.

Happens to me all the time. Alot of the time the messages get personal. Do people not listen to what an answering machine is saying???
