Cell phone battery question

Do batteries just crap out for no reason? I recently bought a Noka 6185 off of eBay (used) and it was fully charged - the charge on the battery lasted almost 3 days before I had to recharge it. (Great compared to the barely 1.5 on my old 6185) I charged it up again - it lasted another 3 days. Then I charged it the other night - the charge barely lasted 20 hours before it said battery low. I thought maybe it was a fluke so I tried another charger - barely held the charge for 20 hours again. I'm trying a 3rd charger but I don't think that's going to help. Is the battery shot or might it be the phone?

I doubt that the cells themselves would suddenly die like that. I suspect a problem with the charging circuitry. It could be simple. Try cleaning the charging contacts with some alcohol and a Q-tip.
