cell fone

I was thinking about getting a cell phone, and i wanted some advice befor i went out looking for one

Ok, first of all, i was thinking about what phone to get, my friend has a 8260, and that one seems kinda cool, because of its smallness.... but i don't really know if its any good because i have never used it. Anyone have this one? or recomend anything else?

another thing is i don't know what kind of plan to get, and who is the best provider. I know these are diffrent all over the place, but i just need the basic idea of what would be good.

another thing i was thinking about doing was getting a family plan, so i could get one for my girlfriend....... but that might be a little to much $

don't get cingular, from what i've heard they're sh!tty.

depending on where you are, voicestream sometimes has sh!Tty reception.

i've heard verizon and sprint are good, but that's just what i've heard. my mom has qwest, and that seems to be very good.

I currently have Sprint PCS. My mother has verizon. I used to have AT&T. My brother has cingular. I like Sprint the best if you live in a major city.

I'm w/ Millenium, if you're in a major city, go w/ Sprint PCS, I'm currently w/ AT&T and once my contracts up, I'm out, always receive poor signal strength here in NYC. Hope this helps.

Talk to people in the area where you will be using the phone and find out what carrier is best.
The 'coolest' phone in the world isn't worth a crap if you don't get reliable connections.

well for the most part yes except for verizon there phones suck. service is rather mediocer as well.

The service really depends on the area, I have a friend in mississippi that has cingular there and it sucks really bad. I just got cingular where I live and its really good service. Works great around my area, haven't had any dropped calls yet, the reception is great. I really like my phone too... i got a nokia 3360. The nokia 8260's are nice, but way to small for me... I know i'd lose it all the time. The 3360 is small enough to fit in a pocket fine, but big enough so I won't lose it... good luck
