Yeah i've read it.

I thought it was pretty interesting, but if i was gonna believe in something, it'd be something that has logic/factual evidence to back it up.

My gf is New Age; i respect what she believes, but i myself do not concur with it.

You missed the point.

42 is the answer to the ultimate question: what is the meaning of Life, The Universe and Everything.

To understand the answer one must know the original question. To know the original question a special, even more powerfull computer must be built. It will be the size of a planet and take billions of years to compute the question.

Unfortunately that planet/computer gets destroyed just before the question is revealed, to make room for a hyperspace bypass.
