It really depends on what your freind is using his PC for. If he is just web browsing and stuff a Celeron would be fine but I would rather get a Sempron.

Celerons are fine except for being slow for gaming. If your friend doesn't play 3D shooters like Doom3 and Half-Life 2 on the computer then a Celeron will be a decent low-budget choice. Web Flash games will work just fine.

Just make sure of that first. No games = Celeron. Games = AMD A64 or P4.

For benchmarks, click the "CPU/Chipsets" tab at the top of this page.

The celeron is basicly a P4 with part of the L2 cache disabled. It's fine for web browsing and things like that, but really hurts the performance in things like games, or video editing.

If all he is doing is web browsing, music, word, etc...

Then check this out: (fixed link!!)

Averatec av3250h1

It is by no means top-of-the-line, but it is a decent, very mobile, inexpensive notebook ($799 after rebate).

This is a good bang for the buck if the above is true!!

He asked about a suggestion on a CPu anbd you reccomend a whole laptop?

And For web browsing a Celeron would be fine but I would go with an AMD Sempron for more bang for your buck. You can buy a Sempron 2400+ for like $60 off newegg which would be great for just a web browsing machine and would perform much better then a celeron at the same price. But just like the celeron I do NOT reccomend it for gaming. IF he wants a gaming machine look into a A64 setup.

Like others have said look whose talking. He said he made a mistake and he was sorry. And I like it when people admit they mada a mistake. And you are probably the least liked member here so I wouldn't be saying anything negative about other members. If anybody here is a n00b its you.
