My desktop Athlon XP 2500, 512mb, ATI AIW 7200 and laptop Dell Inspiron 1300 (Celeron M 1.40 GHz, 512mb, Intel 915 graphics).

Now my desktop can't play ts files with VLC without shuttering, 100% cpu usage. I tried playing the same ts file on my laptop using VLC with the same settings and to my surprise it doesn't shutter at all, never reaches 100% cpu usage.

VLC doesn't support hardware MPEG-2 decode, so it should all be CPU. So what's up with that?

Because many AMD fanbois think Celeron = suckage.

Look at the AT Low-cost Laptop benchmarks. The 1.4Ghz Celeron-M/1MB is a match or consistently beats the 2800+ Sempron64. Since the 2800+ Sempron64 > AXP 2500+, it would reason that the 1.4Ghz/1MB can easily beat the AXP 2500+.
