Celeron II on an old 440BX Motherboard (ASUS P3BF)?

I'm just wondering, will a Celeron II work on my old ASUS P3BF (440BX) motherboard? I have a PPGA to Slot-1 adaptor since the P3BF is a slot 1 motherboard. I think the multiplier settings go up to 8.0x, and I can run FSB's of 100mHz and 133mHz. What Celeron II chips can I run?

Thanks for the help.

I have been running a Cel533@800 for the last year. Asus P2BF , slot converter, FSB100. non-flip chip only I think will work.

I had a Celeron 633 running at 900 with a P3BF at 1.9 volts with no problem for a month before I sold it.

You can run up to a 1.1 Ghz Celeron with a FC-PGA slocket. Update your bios to the latest version. I just put a Celeron 1 GHz in one. I overclocked it to 1120. Works great!

You mentioned that you have a PPGA to Slot One converter; it needs to be a FCPGA to Slot One to work with a Celeron II, but the latter will definitely work.

As long as it's a Celermine and not a Tualeron then it'll be fine...

I had 700E@933 on a P3B-F (Coppermine) and it worked like a charm. a Celermine will definitely work OK.

You WON'T be able to run ANY Celeron II on that

PPGA - SLOT Converter, FC-PGA converter is Required!

Also the multiplier of 8X maximum limits you to Celeron II 533

Which don't exist on the market anymore.

You may try the higer clock 566 or 600mhz. From my experience, unless the motherboard support the required Multiplier, it won't even boot.

Good lucks

Actually, I have a S370 to Slot-1 converter, but I bought it before the FC-PGA's came out, I think. Is there a difference? One is just pins and the other is bumps, but they are in the same configuration, right?

Thanks all for the replies!🙂
