Looking at buying a system with
Retail Celly 633@950
Soyo Sy-6vbe slot1 mobo
MSI slocket
requires 1.9 volt for 950 and runs at 45C under full load

Is this OK or is its life drastically shortened?

I would recommend some more cooling. I don't think you should go above 40C. have a look on your case cooling. Is it good, or bad? Casecooling is the most efficient way to lower over all system temps.

Depends on room temp etc.....Mine air cooled was 43 to 44 c until i went water cooling. Now whatever room temp plus 6 F is where mine runs at. That allowed me to reach 1 gig with it

sounds good, so long as the temp doesn't go any higher. but 1.9V is the max i'd put on a coppermine

Hey Roamerr, I wouldn't do it if wasn't all right!! :) Actually, I think we get a little carried away with the temps on these cpus. I had a Katmai P3 that ran stock at around 65 C in an OEM computer(Compaq). Here is a link to the intel datasheet for Celeron processors INTEL.

If you look through this you will see that the FCPGA chip is rated to 85 celcius and 2.1 Vcore voltage. That being said, I have a deal pending for the system. Thanks anyway...Jmman
