Celeron 600 on Abit BH6 at 900.

I purchased a CPU that was "guaranteed stable" at 900. But I can not get it past booting to win98. Running any apps, it will crash. I am using a generic slotket to run a celeron 600 with cC0 stepping in a bh6 mobo with 128 mb PC133 RAM. When I put the FSB up to 100, I can boot to windows with 1.90v, but opening Photoshop or word will crash the system. The chip does not seem to be running hot, something like 38C, and I am using a Thermal Take Golden Orb Socket Cooler.

What are the chances that it is the slotket? How about the RAM? It is generic, but is PC133. In the BIOS, I can only put the voltage up to 1.9 on user defined. Is there any way to push it to 1.95, and would this be a good idea? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

i thinking its your slocket...what model is it? should not be your ram cause you only running 100 FSB...check your slocket to see if you have the jumpers set to run at 100 FSB also...

I don't think you want to go above 1.9V. If possible, try a different slocket. Try these things first:

- Set your memory timings in the bios to 3.
- Make sure the "turbo" setting in the bios screen where you set CPU voltage is off.
- Make sure you have properly applied thermal compound to your cpu.

Good luck.
