Right now, I've got a Celeron 300A with two club feet in my slot 1 (it can't dance at all :( ). Started looking for a slotket 366 cely @ 550 combo, and noticed a lot of people were taking 566s to 850. Does anyone know if I can plug the 566s into my BX6-R2?

Shouldn't be a problem. I ran my 566 @ 850 in my BX6-2 just fine. Posted at 875 too!

I did the same thing, had a 300A@450 then upgraded to a 566@875

yes you should do a flash of your motherboard BIOS

it is really easy if you can follow some simple steps

I had to flash mine to get the correct multiplier and because of the size of my hard drive

It is always good to update your BIOS for upgrades

edit: make sure that you set "speed error hold" to the null value (meaning it wont be used)

otherwise you will get errors everytime that you boot saying the chip is unworkable and it will set your speed to 266MHz and you will have to reset everything each time you boot.

Yep. I know exactly where the power switch is on the back of my case and my insert key is just 'bout worn out. :) (I also have an Abit KT7a-RAID that has given me loads of overclockin' lovin' :)-finally unlocked my Duron using silver epoxy from crazypc.com -#2 pencil worked for a bit but didn't stick- my 750 seems to run best at 145 X 6= 870.)

Did the exact same thing.

Had a 300a @ 450 on a BX6-R2
Now have a 566 @ 875 using an Abit slotket

Upgraded bios later but it wasn't needed.

Still holds up pretty well to a Duron 600 @ 950.
