Started overclocking a new Celeron 566 on a ASUS P3V4X, MSI Master slotkey and generic PC133. Settings on the MSI were at cpu and voltage default. I started using a low FSB and ran a couple of tests in Sandra and 3D Games, did a RESTART and slowly went up -
8.5 x 75 = 637mhz
8.5 x 95 = 807 @ 1.50
8.5 x 100 = 850 @ 1.65
8.5 x 103 = 875 @ 1.70
8.5 x 105 = 892 @ 1.75
8.5 x 110 = 935 @ 1.80 would boot into windows, but seemed unstable.
So I backed down to 892 to do some more testing. My problem is if I do a complete SHUTDOWN, the computer will not even post. I have to pull the power cord and then the MB backs itself back down to 566mhz and automatically goes into bios.
I have been able to run stable at 850mhz set in bios, shutdown and startup. 850mhz is great, but it bugs me why I can go to 892mhz and not hold it. I can recreate this by doing the same process that I've outlined above.
Should I try to hard set it using the dip switches on the ASUS MB or set the voltage on the MSI slotkey?
Just was wondering if anyone ran across this situation.
