I HAVE A CEL 600 ON A ABIT BE6-II RUNNING @ 850 W/ 192mg PC 100 SDRAM, 1.5 CORE VOLTAGE, 95 FSB AND 9.5 MULTIPLIER. IF I GO BEYOND 96mhz THE SYSTEM REBOOTS BEFORE GOING ONTO WINDOWS 98. WILL IT HELP TO UP THE CORE VOLTAGE AND IF SO HOW HIGH CAN I GO. I WOULD LIKE TO TRY AND GET TO 950. JUST LIKE THE PRO'S.

Sounds like you need just a bit more voltage,Try 1.60,1.65, 1.70 1.75. I would'nt go much higher with stock cooling. If your using an Alpha or comparable you could go up to 1.85. I dont like to run over 1.80 on mine.

Sound like you have a pretty good chip there to get that high with 1.5 volts. Let us know how you do.

Thanks for the reply. Ok I went to 1.6v and raised the FSB to 98. System booted fine but the temp in CMOS PC Health went up to 50C from 39C. Then went 1.65v and 100 FSB temp went to 59C so I went back to 95 FSB and 1.5v. Funny thing is when I had 100 FSB, 9.5 multiplier, and 1.65v when the system rebooted it only read 901 insr=tead of 950 and seemed to be slower than the 864 and themn froze. My guess is I need a better cooling fan. What is the best cooling fan for this chip? Which is a better gauge of temp PC Health or HW Doctor? What is the best way to test for stability?

Get a Golden ORB, and set the voltage to 1.65. BTW, if your temp readings with the stock HS/Fan were 59C, then something is wrong. You may need to check and see if it's attached properly. Even with a stock HS/Fan, temps should never be that high (unless it's 120F room temp wherever you are).

I have a Celeron 600 retail @ 850 using stock HSF @ 1.5v no problems. It will do 900@1.9v and about 35C. I tried running seti@home with it but it kept crashing every 30 minutes or so. Switched over to my Golden Orb with some crappy heat compound and now it'll run seti@home forever without crashing. It'll go as high as 945Mhz but why bother... :D:p

I cleaned the pad off the HS and applied cheap silicone compound and the temp came down to 35C running @ 864 w/ 1.6v. I think I'm on a roll. Now I need to get an Orb. I'll update.
