Anyone know what may cause this error from CDRWin? using latest version, 3.8b, with a HP 9210i scsi, 8x4x32 drive and any type of copying/recording in CDRWin gives me this START DAO RECORDING error--tried imaging to disk and on-the-fly, both fail with same error. am using latest HP firmware, 1.0e. CD-ROM settings, as per suggested by CDRWin, Sync Data checked, Disconnect checked, Auto-notification unchecked. using ALT-CTRL-DEL, killed all but Explorer and Systray, uninstalled Logitech Mouseware (i had problems with Mouseware during it's beta stages), changed scsi ID's around, updated ASPI drivers, updated firmware and Win98 drivers for my scsi card (Tekram 390u2w). Fooled around with mobo (BP6) bios, non-overclocked. I can't think of anything else to try, and have done multiple searches for HP drives and CDRWin. I've tried at least 3 different media, 64min and 70min included. Strange thing was, this configuration was working fine a month ago. Coincidentally, Easy CD Creator 4.02 is giving me similar problems :(

Sounds like possibly a bad drive? But I could be wrong. Did you have a different burner before the HP? If you did, and still have it, swap it out just to see if it works. If it does I would obviously suspect the drive. Try calling HP they usually are not to bad when it comes to support.

What operating system are you using? In Win2k, one of my friends was having similar problems with a BP6 board... I'll ask him to see how he resolved the problem.

Shut down your computer, and disconnect the IDE cable connectors at the back of the drive and at the motheboard, then reconnect them. Reboot and see if you get the same error message. Also, the HP-9110i that I have only likes the middle connector on the IDE cable. I have had a few problems, mostly not recognizing the disc in the drive, and this fixed it for me. Good luck on the HP website, it is difficult to get any info there.

Think back a month ago to see if you remember installing any programs then. I had the easy cd creator and it was way to buggy for me. I've had better compatability with CeQuadrat JustBurn! Also, you can only have one burner program installed. Big time conflicts if you try two software burner proggy's installed. Try removing the software and drive then reinstall from sratch.

dognabbit this is frustrating. thinking it was Adaptec or something else crapping out my burning programs, i formatted everything and reinstalled Win98SE, installed only my ATi and sound card drivers, then cdrwin, and yet, same error!

i sure hope it's not the ATi drivers, they are pretty recent and the only thing i remember changing in terms of system software over the last 2 months
