CDRW: Why does my burner burn at 8X

I have a 2.2 GHZ with a P4B533 and for some odd reason my burner, a TDK 24X only burns at 8X this never happened when i had my epox 8kha+ and a 1500+.

All the cd drives are DMA Enabled.

Please help

What CD burning software are you using? If it is older, you may need an update so the software will recognize your faster burner's maximum speed.

installed intels application accellerator (SP?) ??

It could also be the ATA cable (if you are using different ones than before) or even the media (different than before)

this stupid thing is really pissing me off

i am using higher than 8X its 32X cds and i do and did just nero the same result happened.
