Hi all,
This is basically a new Phillips OEM burner I got recently. It was burning fine less than a week ago.

I do not know if this is related but I swapped out my old LX MB for a BX-2 MB. Everything else seems to work fine.

I tried to burn some backups and audio cd's last night and received the error message" Power calibration error" from Nero and cd creator.

From the message definitions, it says that its hardware related and may need servicing.

What gives???

Please LMK

Have you tried different brands of media? Also, try Windows safe mode, Check device manager and properties for cdrom drives. You should probably remove them all if there are repeating ones. (They only show up in safe mode). Windows should restore them upon reboot.

Did you reinstall windows after changing the MB? Windows doesn't like it when you change something as basic as the MB.

I agree with rahvin...that is a major piece of hardware and should not be treated like a pci devices. They are not that interchangeable. I would categorize it as the only piece of hardware that truly needs a fresh install...chipset drivers associated with mobos can be quite different and cause tons of problems...look at via without the 4 in 1 drivers sh^t poor performance and all sorts of issues. that mobo has its own drivers I assume as well as the registry may still have reminences of the pther board and prove to difficult to get all the old files out cleanly.

Also watch that you have one burner program installed at a time...I have seen many times when one software doesn't like the presence of another...give all sorts of errors.

I was too chickensh*t to do a fresh install but I know I should. I was worried about reinstalling too much of my settings and stuff.

I will try that safe mode technique after I check out to see if it can be the crappy medias I'm using.

Thanks all.

also try uninstalling and re-installing the burn programs... a friend of mine just switched burners too a Plextor 12/10/32 and has been having problems too, ... worth a shot...
