Cdrw problem

hi, i just installed my new liteon 48x cdrw drive, and i installed the newest nero (5.5.9 or something like that) but i can't seem to burn anything higher then 12x. under the options it will only allow me to select 12x 8x 4x and 1x burn speeds. can anyone help me out? thanks.
 
Is this a retail kit that came with nero, or an OEM that you added nero to? If it's not the bundled software that came with your drive, that could be the problem. Also, make sure you're using high speed media; i.e. 40-48X burn.
