Are you getting any particular error message? Buffer underun, unable to find cdrw...? What software are you trying to use? I like to use Nero: Nero site and CDRWIN CDRWIN site.

Also, what other components do you have in your system? Do you have any type of software running in the background when you are burning? Do you have your screen saver turned off?

Please be more explicit regarding your error messages!

i have the most updated version of nero and that doesn't work, cdrwin doesn't recognize it as a cdrw, but only as a reader, adaptec easy cd doesn't work either, i've had the most sucess with nero because it actually starts the burining process but i usually get time-out errors, some scsi/atapi error, power calibration errors happen a lot, and some errors that it doesn't recognize the blank cd, i don't have anything running in the background and no screen saver, i was able to burn a little bit of an audio cd once, it said that it succesfully completed the cd, but it turned out it only burned 4 tracks, i've looked at the creative labs website and they don't even have the burner listed there, i only have one cd drive and its a master on the secondary ide,
