CDRW drive won't read CDRW discs!!!

Whenever i put a CDRW disc in my burner, and go to my computer, the drive reports that there's no disc in it. This is also the same for Adaptec DirectCD. DirectCD keeps saying there's no disc in the drive. I have a Yamaha 4416s with the latest firmwware. I also have the latest version of DirectCD, version 3.01e. I have tried reinstalling DirectCD, but it still doesn't work. I have also tried different brands of CDRW discs, but it still doesn't work. I'm running Windows 2000 SP1. What should I do?

Did you just recently install Windows Media Player 7, by any chance?

The cds are blank CDRW discs. I also tried formatted discs, but it still doesn't work.
