CDRW burning problem

I have the Acer 8/4/32 CDRW. I have tried EZCD and Nero. When I burn a 74 mins CD, no matter audio or date, it's fine. 100% success rate. But when I put in a 80mins CD, the failure rate is 100%. Why is that? I have upgraded my CDRW to the newest firmware, and I am using the latest version of EZCD and Nero... Thanks.

oh, so whether I can use 80 mins CD depends on the burner? Is there any way that I can confirm on that? I checked on the Acer homepage but got no info on restrictions on CD capacity.

a friend of mine uses a 4x acer burner, and it wont do 80 min, 2 coasters in a row, then he gave me the rest of the box of 80's. burn perfectly with my burner =)

the local walmart has a special on memorex 80min's too. 14 bucks for a 10 pack cdn, pretty good price =)

i would probably splurge for a spindle of 80 min's but i need to keep my cash for my cpu upgrade thats around the corner ;P

Kill_phil: If you're looking for a deal on cdr disks, look at this (got it off of the hot deal forum).

50 8x 80min cdr on spindle for $15 overnight shipped at outpost.com

Unfortunately, I can't link you to it because they constantly change their links or something, but try going to http://www.outpost.com, clicking on the computers tab, selecting accessories, storage media, and cd recordable. It should be on the second page at the very bottom.

I just burned a couple of music CD's and duplicated some other software CD's on 80-minute IMATION CD-R's with a HP 9210 (SCSI) CD burner using EZCD creator... and no problems.

Might be that your drive does not support the 80-minute CD's (?).

Contact Acer and ask them. I know my HP 9210i will burn 80-min CD's in every program I have used (Easy CD, Nero, CDRWin, FireBurner)..
