ripped my mp3s onto a couple of cds... now everytime i play them, halfway thru a song, the cdrom just whines louder than an f-16 engine. its goes off and on at will. how do i get rid of the damn noise? the drive is a 40x acer.
Anytime I ever had a drive whine always spelled the end of the drive. Your cdrom might be on its way to cdrom heaven. Hope i'm wrong but that is usually the case. Unless this whine you speak of is different than what i'm thinking of.
its kinda like u can hear the cd spinning inside.. or how something wud sound if u could hear it spinning at 5400 rpm i guess! is it the same whine ur talkin about? i dont mind sending it to cdrom heaven actually .. shes served me well.. and deserves retirement i guess! arent dvd drives real cheap now!?
