cdrom running and listing to mp3?

when i have my cdrom running or burning cd and try to listen to mp3, the music gets slow down and choppy. how can i fix this? thanks.

does your whole system slow down or just the music?

I used to have that problem when I was using the dreaded realplayer...switched to wmp and I havent had any problems

It's because you're loading the workload down on the CPU. Get a faster CPU (possibly more/faster ram!?).

dude i got a intel 2.4ghz w 800 fsb and hyper threading with 512 ram. the only thing that sows down is the music and when i watch movie. i'm using winamp too.
