Cdrom problem

Thanks for your help!

My cdrom drive isn't booting up. The tray opens/closes, it starts to spin stops, starts, stops. Nothing. Manual operation through "My computer" reads as drive not accessible. I reinstalled the driver for it and still nothing. Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks:disgust:

Yeah, take a trip to the local computer store and get a new one, usually when it spits it out and then when you can get it to stay it reads as cdr101 (in dos) or not accessible then its gone.
Thanks,

Just to make sure it's shot or not try doing this:
When your system boots does it see the cdrom? (This tells you if its got some kind of connection, check connections just to be sure)
Drop a Win98 startup floppy in and boot, does it connect to the cdrom? Can it read files? If not then the cdrom is probably gone, if it does then it's an issue with windows.

Try the simple option first get a lens cleaner. if it still spins in dos.. then just get a new drive, the lens is buggered
