Anybody have, or know of, a good shareware or freeware program to back up a hard drive to cdr or rw media. I've got a Plextor 12-10-32 coming and they have a program but it's $35 extra.
Thanks
Bill
what? the plexmanager and software should be included with the drive? is this an oem drive? lmk if it doesnt come with the drive. i dont use my plexmanager and cd res-q..i might be willing to give it up.
its only a couple mb...but you also need plexmanager. not sure how big that is. thats really weird..i got two 12x Plextors (one IDE and one SCSI) and they both cam with it. Email me at home...i have an "extra" cd
Ghost can backup to CD and it's part of the SystemWorks Pro package. If you have Easy CD Creator 4 Deluxe, it has something called Take Two which does the same.
Both of those will work too. Cdresq is nothing more than Norton Ghost anyways, but it does make the CD bootable without having to mess around with a hundred different drivers. IMHO
It is faster, cheaper, and more useful to simply get a duplicate HDD and clone to it. Then disconnect it and put it away. I reclone mine every Saturday . . . have two reserve drives. Heck . . . with a 30 GB drive only costing $150, why bother with restorations and stuff?
The simplest cloning software is not Ghost or Drive Image . . . but good old Drive Copy 3.0. Takes 13-15 minutes to clone a 20 gig drive.
