CDR Burning Issue

I have an external Plextor 12x4x32 scsi burner.
The weired thing is if I burn CDR using CDRWin 3.7x I can only use 4 speed, otherwise I just get coster. If I use Easy CD Creator, I can use 8 speed. The media is 8x certified. Any idea? Does CDRWin has some bugs? Thx.

it happens.

i burn at 12x with my 12x10x32 IDE plextor with 8x certified media...

see if a new version of cdrwin can help, if there is one.

Mday,

You mean you can burn 8x media with 12x! How does burn-proof in that monster going? Maybe I should get an internal one. The reason why I got the external is that I seldom burn CD and I don't wanna let the CDRW heating even if I'm not using it. Another reason is that it's not SCSI.

If you have External SCSI, you have the best! Never go internal if you can afford external.

It would appear that you should stick to ECDC 4.02 or Nero. Anything else is questionable reliability.

Also, always cache your stuff to be burned via the HDD . . . that about eliminates buffer underruns.

i didn't have a burner in the 4x days... 😛

plextor is planning on releasing a SCSi one... if they have not already.

the rating for CDRs mean nothing. for CDRWs, it's a different matter. I am referring to media.

if you seldom burn CDRs, why did you get an external SCSI which cost SO MUCH...

I have not even tested burn-proof yet. never ran into it either. i guess i'll do a dry run one of these days.

let's see, i've thrown word 2k, ie5, netscape while burning... forte agent (2 sessions)... while watching TV on my computer... of course activating the TV program takes its toll, so i guess i'll do that...

the thing is, i think burn-proof requires both the software and hardware to support it. does anyone know if 4.02c supports it?

i should also add that i had trouble burning some 8x at 6x with my previous burner, had to go to 4x 🙁

I must clarify some.

Although I seldom burn cd but sometimes I burn 10 pieces a week. sometimes none a week. I just want reliablity of SCSI.
For CDRWin, I dump a bin file from HDD to CDR. for ECDC, I use its
cd copy a lot from a SCSI reader to a SCSI writer. Can nero dump .bin
file to CDR? THx.

Celoverclock, which 4x brand you have? Is it imation? Which SCSI adapter you have? I've 2940, 2930.

Well, I never had a SCSI burner, but I've been using a Yamaha 4416E for over a year, and NO coasters!! Well, I had a few coasters, but I screwed up on those ones. 🙂 This IDE drive is completely realiable to me. Yes, while it is burning, I can't play Quake, but I can safely browse around the Net or use Office...

Did you use a registered copied of CDRWIN or did you use a keygen. CDRWIN will accepts any serial number you put in there, but the programs will give you coaster if the serial number is invalid.
