CDkey not working

Hey guys,

I just got all of my new hardware for my computer, and I attempted to install windows XP pro.

It worked fine, that is, until I tried to enter the CDKey. It said PRODUCT KEY IS NOT VALID. So, I tried installing XP Home. It still registered it as Pro, which kinda freaked me out. But that version didn't work.

So.

I bought ALL NEW software for XP Pro. I formatted the drive...again... but no luck.

Could it be hardware?

Athlon XP 2400
Gigabyte GA 7N400-L
1GB (2 512 dimms) OCZ PC3200
Western Dig. Caviar 80GB drive
Geforce FX 5900XT
Soundblaster Audigy

If you have a legal OEM copy of XP, you can contact customer service at the place where you bought it and they will help you.

My brother lost the CD key sticker from the OEM XP Pro he bought from Newegg, and they were able to give him the contact info and steps to get a new number from Microsoft.

If you don't have a legal copy, AT is the wrong forum for warez help.

If it is the key that came with the software and it is not working, call MS. There must have been a printing foobar when it came to your copy.

Have you tried this? Either your school is handing out bad keys, yours was mis-printed, or they forgot to pay MS for the license.

Uhmm,

Well, they charge money to speak with them over the phone, and I just don't have that much money laying around. Unless, that is, someone knows a toll free number.
