CDex Ripping Speed

To anyone who uses or has used CDex, about how long does it usually take to convert a song into an mp3 from off cd? Depending on my settings, it takes anywhere from 35-75 seconds per song....that just seems really slow to me, when comparing to iTunes, which takes just a few seconds to rip a song. Is this just the program or is there something in the settings I should try changing? I changed the 'CD Speed' option from the 0 default to 32 and 64 and still no better....

I've got a 24x10x24x drive on my laptop, and it takes me about 75-90 seconds for a song. I'm using alt-preset standard and full paranoia.

CDex is probably doing some error checking to make sure the song was ripped accurately, while iTunes crosses its fingers and doesn't do any checking. If so, CDex is much more likely to give you a rip free of ticks and flaws on older CDs.

Alright thanks guys....and yeah you're right, it was definitely the error correction that's causing the difference in rip times.
