Heres my config, at least what is important to this matter.

Athlon 1.4ghz
Epox 8K7A+
Yamaha 16X CDRW Drive on IDE channel 1 (second channel) in slave mode using an ATA66/100 compatible IDE cable.
Windows 2000 Pro w/ SP2, tried using ms ide drivers and via 4in1s 1432.

Basicaly the problem is, if I go to burn a CD either from an image or a compilation of files, havent tried direct from another drive, I get an unkown error before it starts burning, in both CDRWIN and easy cd creator. So far the only thing I have come close to getting it to work is disabling DMA and using PIO mode, but it gets to about 20 percent then makes a coaster.

How's it work just copying a file or extracting a zip file from it to your hard drive? Do you get CRC errors?

I have simular probs with my TDK VeloCD 16-10-40x (I posted in this forum about it) and with it I cannot burn or copy a simple file to the desktop. But, every other drive so far works flawlessly that I've thrown in it including an old 2x HP 7200 burner.

I swap it out into my P3 system and the VeloCD is perfect again.

Btw, I'm currently in WinME, but I switched from Win2000 because I thought the problem was Win2000.

I suggest try putting it on it's own IDE cable as a master. Don't sare it with the hard drive.

Also, have you updated the firmware for it?

See if that helps.
