Hello,

Im gonna get a CD Writer hopefully next week with your help.
Im running Red hat 7.1 will have 7.2 installed next week.

Heres a few questions.

For those running Linux what CD-RW Drive Model do you have? eg PLextor,Aopen,HP..
Will all CD Writers work under Linux?
Is there any Compatablilty problems?
What Manufacturers support Linux. Have Drivers If needed.

assumption=>So if all CD Writers will work
Whats the best software. like Nero etc.

All help will be appreciated

Any IDE or SCSI CDRW should be fine, I have yet to see one not work.

As for software, I believe all the GUI apps simply run cdrecord from the command line to do there real writing so they should all work fine. I've only used cdrecord from the command line myself so I can't really comment.

At my university we have Plextor drives installed on all Linux machines.

I think that any CD writer will work under Linux though...
