cd-rw w/ XP

i am using windows XP, and everything is great except my cd-rw is not recognizing. It show it while it is booting up but in XP itsself it doesnt show up and i cant use it. i have a sony cd-rw CRX145E/CH

some people said some stuff about aspi layers or something tried that dident work


help plz

 
How do you have this drive set?
master/slave ?
primary/secondary interface?
Is it an IDE drive ?
Did you try installing any software for it already
or just using the native CDRW tools in WinXP ?
Was this installation of XP an Upgrade ?
If so, was the CDRW in it before the upgrade?

I setup a friends computer with XP and the CDRW quit working.
It was the slave to a CD-Rom master.
Turns out the CD-Rom was going bad and causing both drives
to malfunction in Windows.
