CD-RW not working

I know this post is located somewhere else but maybe i can get more responses with mine.

I installed Nero and when i choose cd recorder, all it had was a virtual device to burn an image. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program but i still have this problem. I know my CD-RW is working because i have used CDs on it before. Also, my drivers are up to date.
My CD-RW is up to date with current drivers that I know DELL installed for me.
Here is my CD-RW model:

SONY CD-RW CRX216E

I have Nero 5

I bought the computer from DELL and they provided easy cd creator but i replaced a hard drive and i like Nero better. I have had this problem with my old computer as well but in that case I just replaced the cd-rw and then nero detected it.

I have DMA enabled on primary and seconadry IDE channels so what could be the problem?

Also, after installing Nero, my computer doesn't detect my CD-ROM drive (its on the secondary channel). But after uninstalling it does.

Please help

THANKS

What OS?

Do you have Windows Media Player 7 or 8 installed?
If so, uninstall Media Player and reinstall using customized and
choose not to install the built-in burning software.

I have Windows Media Player 9

It is Windows XP

EDIT: I got it to work. I'm an idiot and didn't realize that Nero only works with that cd burner

THANKS
