i am buying a TDK VeloCD and wanted to buy some CD-RW disks for it but noticed that best buy had only 4x rated disks. i asked and was told it doesn't matter the burner will burn them at the fastest speed rating for the burner. is that true or do i need to buy 10x CD-RW CD's? thanx

go 4 10x RW-S if cdrw's r only rated 4x then there are higher chances of making a coaster

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think CDRW media is limited in that it will burn no faster than the media is rated. There is no way to even attempt to burn a piece of 4x rated CDRW media at 10x, even if the burner supports it.

Bryan is correct when he states that cdrws will only burn as fast as its rated maximum!

Some burner software will let the maximum speed rating be ignored, either by design or by bug. An example of the latter is one version of Nero 4 or 5 that can be fooled by inserting a disk at the beginning, then before the burn starts, remove it and insert the desired disk. This has let me burn 2x CD-RWs at 4X. I don't remember exactly what I did, so don't ask.
