Lite-On 48X drive, burning at 16x using 40x rated media. It burns fine using Nero, can be read in the cd-rw drive only. Take it to another drive, and it won't be read anymore. It will cite a CRC error. What could be the problem?

How many other CD-ROM drives have you tried it in? Are the other drives fairly new and "multiread" certified?

You might wank to check all the options and try some different settings such as Joliet, no Joliet, ISO Level 1 or ISO Level 2 etc, play about a bit....

What sort of stuff are you burning?....straight data files? Image files(BIN/ISO)?, copying other CD's?

Drive should be good, its a 16x Lite-on dvd drive, reads dvds and other pressed media fine, just no cd's. Just burning a few iso images for education purposes. All this on WinXP.

If I try straight up Dos, the cdrom would just sit there... humming as the light glows.

I have had this message with ISO files, I think it was something in the settings but I can't remember exactly what, if that fails...try just a straight data cd....that will confirm that software and driver are working ok.
