cd-rw buying question

wife wants a cd-burner for xmas, didnt see anything recent i could take part in in the hot deals forum, so heres what im seeing at pricewatch:

lite on 32/12/40 39 shipped

cyberdrive 40/12/48 44 shipped

hows cyberdrive as a brand? worth another 5 bucks for the extra speed?

Recently, there's been like $10-$30 cd burners from brands such as Cendyne on any given weekend, especially Black Friday. Maybe you can wait it out to see if there will be hot deals during the next few weekends. :)

rather not wait too long, not that 45 bucks is much for a burner as it is, but it definitely has to be here for christmas so i gotta order soon, maybe somethin will come up today or tomorrow, oh well

I would go with the LiteOn... The difference in burning speed won't be that much (unless you are really impatient and cannot wait for the extra few seconds)... Plus LiteOn drives are tried and tested, and it's cheaper...

Try to find a teac 40x12x48. Dunno th price now - but mine had a good package at a good price in summer

I'd recommend this Lite-On 40125S from Newegg.com. It's $56 (free shipping) and will be there in plenty of time before X-mas. The only reason I'd recommend the faster drive is because it's newer. Mt. Rainier support and C2 error checking are things that I don't think the 32x drive has. To each his own, but I would definitely buy the Lite-On.
