This is a pretty odd problem that is driving me nuts. I installed a samsung 240b cd burner. It has burnt about 10-15 cds so far with no problems. today I tried to install warcraft3, and my cpu rebooted. I tried to install sims2 and my cpu rebooted. It does this anywhere from 30seconds to 5 minutes after running the instalation.
I have tried another cd rom in my cpu and it worked correctly. I have uninstalled the samsung and let it reinstall on start up. Same problem. I removed all of my cd burning programs, and still the same problem.
I have booted into safemode to make sure I only had one drive installed.
2 odd things Ihave noticed. There are no drivers for the cd rom, it uses win xp drivers. I went to the samsung web site and they only offer a firmware update which it has.
Other odd thing is when I first installed the cd rom under my computer where it list your different drives, it has the cd burner as a samsung 240b, now it has it listed as just a cd writer.
