I've been having this weird problem lately when I try to use my CD-Rom to play a game or install it. My computer will either freeze, hard-lock or just reboot itself. I was wondering is this heat related because this just started happening now, it didn't happen before and I was wondering if maybe cuz of summer the heat is getting to it????

Thanks,
Nore

Ok this gets real interesting. I had a Kenwood 72x and I thought it got messed up cause this started happening. So I send the Kenwood to get RMAd and got an ASUS 50x for now. So I install the ASUS and the same crap happens. For some reason it'll work in my DVD Drive though. WTF is going on?????

did you try another IDE-cable?

DVD and CDROM are attached to the same IDE-cable?

never heard about any problems with TOSHIBA-DVD and ASUS-CDROM,
i wonder if switching will help,
maybe it's just bad luck and a bit of MURPHY's LAW.

do yourself a favour and try one more CDROM just to make sure.

Hmm but it also happened with the Kenwood. I really find it weird than any of my CD-Roms wont work, yet my DVD does.

Ok, the problem seems to affect only the slave drive. I think the cable is messed up or something. I thought I had used another IDE cable but I didnt. I'll have 2 find my motherboard box and try another. It must be the cable because what else can it be? For now as a temporary solution I set my burner as the slave drive since I only use it for burning anyways. I'll try an IDE cable tomorrow morning and find out for sure, I've been with this crap all night. Thanks a lot Wasnlos. :)
