CD ROM PROBLEMS IN XP

Looking for some ideas, I have a P4 2Gig, Asus P4TE 512 Meg Pc 800 Rambus Memory. When I installed XP Home I only had 1 CD Rom in my machine. Its a Yamaha 16x10x40 and this is the drive I used to install XP. The other night I tried to add another CDrom . Its a Sony CDU5211. The operating system will not read files off of the regular Sony CD but the Yamaha will. Have them both on the same controler and have switched them back and forth as far as runing them as Masters and Slaves. I know the drive is ok because I can put it in a Win Me Machine and it works just fine. Any help would be appreciated . Thanks in advance!!!!

I was reading in another thread that somehow XP gets confused with replacement CDROM devices.. try deleting both of them in the device manager and then rescan for hardware changes, and see if that helps.
