CD-ROM Drive Problem

I have an LG 52x and one rewritable and they both can play normal discs but they wont play games like Far Cry and Prince of Persia.. What's the problem?

Could be the protection on the discs. Sometimes the copy protection causes things like this. Do you get any messages or they just can't read the discs?

does the cd burner burns fine or does it burn coasters? even if nero says failure, take the disc to another computer and try and see if it reads.

my burner burns fine but it stopped reading discs a lot of time. i have quite a few burners fail on me these couple of months.

It burns fine but I'm not sure what you mean by coasters. As for trying the disc somewhere else I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the cd itself because I've also tried Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, and a second copy of Far Cry from Monarch because I initally thought the first was defective (Oh well, free cd key for me) whenever i put this thing in the lg 52x it spins a little and then stops and it keeps doing that for a while. as for the burner it doesnt spin it at all . like i said before though..it runs everything else but games fine.

the reason that i asked is because i have the same problem: burner burns CD's fine but it won't read it (thus labeled as failure by nero)

maybe it's time to get one of those NEC burners for like $45.

Sometime programs that emulate CD DVD drives like Deamon Tool and Achohal 120% can screw up drives reading games !

They are not DVD games are they ?

Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia is DVD and I do in fact have Daemon. As for Far Cry it says PC CD-ROM SOFTWARE on it so I'm going to guess it's not. W/e I guess I'm going to have to get a dvd drive then...
